Defined by the American College of Nurse Midwives, midwifery encompasses primary care for women across the lifespan from adolescence beyond menopause, with a special emphasis on pregnancy, childbirth, and gynecologic and reproductive health. Midwives perform comprehensive physical exams, prescribe medications including contraceptive methods, order laboratory and other diagnostic tests, and provide health and wellness education and counseling.

Julie is nationally certified by the American College of Nurse Midwives and has more than twenty years of clinical practice in the community. Besides her clinical role, Julie is a clinical preceptor to Nurse Midwife students and guest lecturer on diverse topics in the community.

She received her bachelors in Nursing from of Boston College and her Masters in Midwifery from SUNY Stonybrook. Some of her interests include: adolescent healthcare, contraceptive care issues, and breastfeeding support.

Julie enjoys exercise, reading, traveling, skiing and keeping up with her three children.
